Work With Me

Pippa Braund, MSc

Audiologist & Coach

Pippa graduated from the University of Southampton, England, UK with a Master’s degree in Audiology (MSc) in 2003 and began work as an audiologist for the National Health Service (NHS), specialising in hearing assessment and rehabilitation. A few years later she started experiencing chronic dizziness symptoms and was diagnosed with chronic vestibular migraine. She was largely unable to work for the next nine years and her life was very limited during this time. After trying many medications, vestibular rehabilitation exercises and diets with limited success, she began to read chronic pain research and books about new approaches to treating chronic conditions and started applying them to her dizziness. She was able to recover fully and get back to leading a normal life in 2016. She returned to work as an audiologist and has since successfully used the techniques she used to recover to help people with neural circuit dizziness, hyperacusis and problematic tinnitus. Pippa is certified as a Holistic Life Coach, has studied vestibular rehabilitation with Hypatia Training and is trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy. She is currently training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). Pippa continues to work part-time for the NHS as a specialist audiologist. She is passionate about helping others who are struggling with chronic dizziness to recover from this debilitating condition. She lives in England with her husband, two children and two cats.

Jill Shames, MSW

Clinical Social Worker & Coach

Jill Shames graduated with her MSW from Boston University with a specialization in Health Care in 1983. As a Clinical Social Worker, she has “had the backs” of folks of all ages and stages dealing with medical challenges both in the hospital and out in the community. She is also a professionally trained Rape Crisis Counselor and an Advanced Black Belt Instructor of Shorin-ryu Karate. Little wonder that, when she discovered the Feminist (now the Empowerment) Self- Defense community, she dove right. She has been an ESD practitioner and internationally recognized trainer for over 35 years. Jill’s Therapeutic Tool Box includes Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as mind-body resilience and recovery techniques. Her somatic work is rooted in traditional Martial Arts & holistic self-defense and powered by the most current and empirically sound psychophysiology and neuroplasticity knowledge she can find. In addition to her work with people challenged by chronic dizziness, Jill works with neurodiverse kids and teens and both children and adults touched by cancer. She also volunteers on the Psychotrauma Team of Israel’s United Hatzalah rescue organization both in Israel and abroad. Along the way, Jill has managed to enjoy four-plus decades with her husband/life-partner despite raising four incredible, independent human beings each making their mark on the world in their own unique and powerful way. She loves music, learning new stuff, detective fiction, dogs, cats, coffee and chocolate--- not necessarily in that order.

Tara Levine, MA

Tara Levine, MA

Care Coordinator & Communications Guru

After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in finance, Tara decided to go back to school for communication with a specialization in interpersonal communication. Once she finished her master's program at the University of Central Florida, she stayed and worked in higher education for 12 years. In 2017, after a year of working full time while navigating new motherhood, she woke up one day with a headache and blurry vision in one eye. Doctors diagnosed her with optic neuritis but nothing was found on her MRI. After deep diving into internet research, she experienced a year of more stress and health anxiety even though the blurriness eventually cleared. Tara then started having migraine auras. This new symptom made her anxiously google all of her symptoms even more and try to self diagnose herself since all medical tests were coming out normal. With the encouragement from a friend, she started working with a mindbody practitioner and started reading books on mindbody techniques. Using these methods, her symptoms have gone away and she has not had a migraine aura in over 2 years. Tara feels so fortunate to be able to help others through their own healing journey. When she is not working with the Steady Coach, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys who keep her quite busy. She loves learning from others and is a true believer in the healing power and connection of your mind and body.
